This small porcelain jar has a low, rounded body that turns inward toward a narrowed opening. A fitted lid follows the same shallow profile, while the raised central knob introduces a smaller circular form above the broader body.
Blue underglaze dots repeat around the exterior wall and circle the center of the lid. Green-grey and brown bands pass horizontally through both sections, shifting in width and density as they follow the changing contours.
The surface is organized through concentric movement rather than a fixed front. On the body, the painted bands travel around the circumference. On the lid, the same visual language contracts inward toward the central knob.
The hand-painted marks remain slightly diffuse beneath the transparent glaze. Changes in pigment density, brush pressure, and glaze movement prevent the repeated dots and lines from becoming mechanically uniform.
Studio Note
The lid and body are treated as related but separate circular surfaces. Horizontal bands stabilize the low form, while the dotted rings divide the wider painted areas into a slower repeated rhythm. When closed, the two parts read as one compact composition built around rotation.
Ceramic Characteristics
This work was individually formed, painted, glazed, and fired. Variations in contour, lid alignment, brush direction, dot shape, line width, color density, pigment diffusion, and glaze coverage are natural characteristics of studio ceramics.
Measurements are approximate. Slight irregularities within the painted rings and differences between individual marks form part of the finished work and are not considered manufacturing defects.
Care Information
Hand washing is recommended. Use a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, direct flame, impact around the lid and rim, and sudden temperature changes.
For food use, discontinue use if the glazed interior becomes chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged.
