Freehand Green Line Cup

This ceramic cup has a compact form with a diameter slightly greater than its height. The proportions create a broad opening while keeping the overall volume relatively low and contained.

Green underglaze lines move around the exterior without following a transferred template or predetermined layout. The pattern was drawn directly onto the ceramic surface, allowing differences in spacing, direction, and line weight to remain visible. Its irregular rhythm records the movement of the hand rather than reproducing an exact composition.

The piece was made as a first study of this proportion and drawing method. Although the surface is deliberately uncorrected, the scale of the finished cup provides a useful reference for later variations.

Studio Note

The relationship between the broad diameter and lower height became more significant than the original plan for a transferred pattern. This proportion may be retained as a reference form while the surface language continues to change.

Ceramic Characteristics

Each work is individually formed, painted, glazed, and fired. Variations in dimensions, contour, line spacing, brush direction, color depth, and glaze coverage are natural characteristics of studio ceramics.

Measurements are approximate. Irregularities in the freehand pattern and visible traces of the forming, painting, glazing, and firing processes form part of the finished work and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Care Information

Hand washing is recommended. Use a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, sudden temperature changes, direct flame, and impact.
