Floral and Striped Lidded Porcelain Jar

This small porcelain jar has a low, compact body with a fitted lid. The knob was pinched directly by hand and intentionally left irregular, preserving a visible forming gesture at the top of the otherwise contained form.

Spots and stripes in a related color palette continue across the lid and outer wall. Rather than forming one uninterrupted pattern, the two surfaces use the same visual language through changes in mark, spacing, and direction.

A small flower and scattered decorative spots occupy the interior. When the lid is closed, this separate composition disappears inside the jar and is revealed only when the vessel is opened.

The glazed porcelain surface allows the jar to be used for small portions of food, condiments, or dry ingredients. It can also hold jewelry, keepsakes, or other small objects.

Studio Note

The hand-pinched knob was not refined into a regular geometric handle. Its irregularity concentrates the physical trace of forming within one small area, while the painted spots and stripes organize the surfaces below it.

Ceramic Characteristics

This work was individually formed, painted, glazed, and fired. Variations in contour, lid alignment, knob shape, brush direction, line width, color density, motif placement, and glaze coverage are natural characteristics of studio ceramics.

Measurements are approximate. The irregular hand-pinched knob and visible differences between painted marks were intentionally retained and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Care Information

Hand washing is recommended. Use a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, direct flame, impact around the lid and rim, and sudden temperature changes.

For food use, discontinue use if the glazed interior becomes chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged.
