This small stoneware saucer has a shallow, compact form with a gently raised rim. Its 10-centimeter diameter makes it suitable for serving small portions, holding a teacup, or functioning as a dish for jewelry and other small objects.

Hand-painted spirals move across the interior among scattered dots. The circular motifs vary slightly in scale, spacing, and curvature, creating a repeated rhythm without resolving into a mechanically ordered pattern.

The decoration sits against the naturally warm, granular color of the coarse stoneware. Dark painted marks and visible clay particles give the surface the character of an older household object rather than a newly manufactured piece. Its vintage quality comes from the relationship between the loosely painted pattern and the unrefined material beneath it.

Studio Note

The spirals repeat the circular structure of the saucer, while the scattered dots interrupt that movement and prevent the surface from becoming too orderly. The coarse clay remains visible between the painted marks, allowing the material to participate in the composition rather than serving only as a neutral background.

Ceramic Characteristics

This work was individually formed, painted, glazed, and fired. Variations in contour, rim height, clay texture, spiral shape, dot placement, pigment density, and glaze coverage are natural characteristics of studio ceramics.

Measurements are approximate. Visible clay particles, irregular painted lines, and differences between repeated motifs form part of the finished work and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Care Information

Hand washing is recommended. Use a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, direct flame, impact, and sudden temperature changes.

For food use, discontinue use if the glazed surface becomes chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged.
